Chris Grivakes is a trial lawyer who handles complex business disputes, insurance badfaith cases, media related disputes, and employment litigation.

Chris hashandled commercial and consumer litigation in various jurisdictions across thecountry. His expertise includes complex business torts, shareholder andpartnership disputes, insurance disputes, special litigation in bankruptcy, andemployment litigation. Chris has also handled appeals in the California andNinth Circuit Courts of Appeal. He is licensed in California and Nevada.



Biography

Chris is an experienced litigator and triallawyer who has complex business disputes, including shareholder litigation,partnership disputes, and fraud and breach of fiduciary duty actions. He oftenhandles "bet the company" litigation for distressed businessesand has handled high profile cases which have received international attention.

Chris also has an extensive background ininsurance coverage and insurance bad faith and has successfully recoveredmultiple millions of dollars for insureds on denied claims and againstinsurance companies for bad faith claims handling.

Chris also represents entertainment and mediapersonalities in a variety of disputes involving publicity, defamation,business, and sensitive personal matters.

  • Co-counsel at trial in obtaining among the largest race discrimination awards in California for 2019 in total amount of $3.4million.
  • Co-counsel at trial resulting in seven-figure settlement of shareholder dispute over equity investment in Silicon Valley hotel.
  • Obtained mid seven figure settlement for global alternative investment fund against portfolio investment company.
  • Settled $25 million breach of fiduciary duty claim against private equity investors.
  • Obtained confidential seven-figure settlement on behalf of rape victim against major sports team owner.
  • Shareholder dispute which settled during trial for total benefit to shareholders of $70 million.
  • After trial and pending appeal, obtained $6 million settlement in an action against publicly traded energy drink company to unwind the rescission of a reverse merger and for monetary damages.
  • Obtained a $6.5 million settlement for a California homeowner in an insurance bad faith action arising out of the insurer’s denial of roof leak claims.
  • Handled shareholders derivative suit involving foreign military technology, resulting in confidential cash settlement and issuance of 1.8 million shares of stock.
  • Handled special litigation for publicly traded Utah copper mine in largest Chapter 11 bankruptcy in Utah in dispute over ownership of the company.
